Les missions du poste
The Head of Academic programs defines and implements Renaissance Fusion's strategy for disseminating results within the scientific community and developing collaborations with academic laboratories, while ensuring the protection of the company's intellectual property. To this end, he/she builds and leads a team that is expected to grow over time, composed notably of technical writers, an intellectual property (IP) engineer, a public grant project manager, a scientific spokesperson, and a conference organizer.
Responsibilities
The Head of Academic programs, both as an individual contributor and a manager, is responsible for the following activities :
Scientific Dissemination & Integrity
- Develop and implement strategies to maximize the impact of Renaissance Fusion's scientific contributions while safeguarding its intellectual assets.
- Ensure that scientific papers, presentations, patents, reports, videos, computer codes, and other technical outputs meet the highest standards of technical excellence, clarity, and scientific integrity.
- Oversee the publication process, ensuring alignment with external standards, in collaboration with technical writers.
Intellectual Property Protection & Management
- Work with the IP Engineer to :
- Define and implement policies that protect company innovations while allowing for effective knowledge sharing.
- Support internal teams in balancing scientific dissemination with IP constraints.
- Ensure compliance with patent laws and confidentiality agreements in scientific communications.
Academic & National Lab Collaborations
- Represent Renaissance Fusion in scientific networks and research alliances.
- Work with the Scientific collaboration manager, the CTO, and the technical Heads to :
- Identify, develop, and nurture strategic collaborations with universities and research institutions in the context of funding opportunities, knowledge sharing, or research infrastructure access.
- Develop partnerships with universities to host PhD students (including CIFRE agreements), co-design the thesis projects with stakeholders, and ensure proper monitoring of the theses, ensuring alignment with the mutual needs of both the research laboratory and the company.
- Work with the Grant Editor & administrator to :
- Detect the best grant opportunities
- Supervise the grant proposal and follow-up
Event Organization & Representation
- Work with the Scientific Spokesperson and Conference Organizer to :
- Oversee the organization of scientific conferences, workshops, and public outreach initiatives.
- Support Renaissance Fusion researchers in presenting their work at major scientific and industry events.
- Develop a strong scientific communication strategy to enhance the company's visibility and credibility.
Team management
- BE the ambassador of Renaissance Fusion's vision within your team and promote its culture, values (speed, simplicity, fantastic realism, constructive interference, and unified force), and policies
- Encourage collaboration at all levels of the organization
- Ensure that your team is motivated to achieve its objectives : set targets and follow them up with encouragement, support, feedback, and responsibility
- Ensure that employees are in the best position to achieve their objectives : listen to them, look after their well-being, make sure they have the appropriate tools and skills; fill the gap if necessary (recruitment, training, reorganization...)
- Take an active role in talent development : identify potential, determine areas and opportunities for development, encourage reflection on professional projects, propose training courses
Requirements

Education and professional experience
- PhD in physics, engineering, material science, or a related technical field.
- Strong background in scientific research, academic collaborations, or technology transfer.
- 15+ years of experience in scientific writing, publication processes, and intellectual property management.
- Experience in team leadership or project management.
Languages
- Fluent in French and English (C1 / C2)
Technical skills
- Strong understanding of scientific publishing, peer review processes, and IP regulations.
- Ability to write and edit high-quality scientific papers, patents, and grant proposals.
- Knowledge of funding mechanisms, collaborative research projects, and grant writing.
Other requirements
- Willingness to travel to conferences, meet partners, etc.
