YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT
The headquarters of the AXA Group (GIE AXA) brings together our corporate activities. It provides guidance and support to subsidiaries around the world, to ensure the coordination and monitoring of the Group's global strategy, the application of its standards, the consistency of commercial approaches and the sharing of best practices. Within the Group, you will join the Group Underwriting Office (GUO) in the P&C Commercial UW department. The GUO was created in 2023 to steer the performance of our insurance portfolio and support our reinforced focus on technical excellence. The platform also contributes to define our global ambition and approach to new emerging risks related to the energy transition and cyber in the coming years.
Within this Department, you will be part of the team as NAT CAT Underwriting Expert.
YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSABILITIES:
The P&C business is core to the AXA Group and is operated in 20+ territories, with a wide mix of operating models, market shares and stages of development.
In the context of the increasing risks arising from Natural Perils, the role of the NAT CAT Underwriting Expert will be focussed on supporting the P&C Commercial Lines Underwriting team in assessing and controlling P&C Natural Events Risks across the Group.
The role will particularly include an active involvement in the deployment of the recently launched Natural Events Underwriting Guidelines, with a specific focus on designing solutions and supporting entities to set their Accumulation Monitoring processes and Portfolio Shaping strategies.
In addition, in collaboration with Pricing and Risk Management teams, the NAT CAT Underwriting Expert will ensure GUO Underwriting data needs are fulfilled representing the Commercial Underwriting team in the different Group data initiatives.
YOUR PROFILE
Technical background & skills
- Analytical profile, preferably with an actuarial, mathematical, statistical or engineering degree.
- Experience of P&C business operations including Underwriting, Pricing, Claims, Reserves and/or Reinsurance, enabling to have a thorough understanding of business insurance rationale, processes and profitability and any potential P&C risk.
- Good knowledge of P&C actuarial and underwriting fields to efficiently challenge local experts.
- Advance knowledge of data management tools, preferably with Python.
- Understanding of complex financial figures (Current Year Combined Ratio, All Years Combined Ratio, Economic Combined Ratio, attritional LR, GWP, GEP, Short Term Economic Capital, etc.) connected to insurance activity monitoring.
- Reinsurance knowledge (treaties and facultative).
Soft skills
- Able to develop structured argumentation to sell ideas, convince and embark various types of stakeholders (different hierarchy levels and business background).
- Culture of delivery with focus on translating efforts into tangible and measurable outcomes.
- Agility to work in a multifaceted P&C world (Local vs Group, Small vs Large entities, worldwide underwriting cultures).
- Fluent English.
