About Exotrail
Born from a strong ambition to reach for the stars, Exotrail is a fast-growing scale-up founded in 2017. Its mission: to develop and commercialize propulsion systems for small satellites on a global scale.
We design products focused on impact, fast delivery, and continuous improvement. Inspired by the digital world, we are firmly customer-oriented and driven by an entrepreneurial spirit.
We manage risks to push boundaries and achieve results that would not be possible within a traditional space model.
We deploy every necessary resource to support the development of our products, whether in propulsion or in-orbit services. Strengthened by an innovative mindset inherited from our early days, we are preparing to grow into an ambitious industrial company.
Job Description
The Propulsion Test Engineer intern will support the qualification and validation of propulsion products by participating in lifetime testing activities, technical documentation and report writing. This role offers hands-on exposure to propulsion systems testing and product qualification processes in an engineering environment.
The intern will work under the supervision of a Test Engineer within the Technology team, in the Propulsion branch of Exotrail.
Key Responsibilities
Support the execution of lifetime and endurance tests on propulsion components or systems.
Assist in test setup, verification, including preparation of test benches and instrumentation under supervision.
Monitor tests, collect data and ensure proper recording of results.
Perform document gathering and organisation, including test procedures, requirements, specifications and test data.
Contribute to the analysis of test results in collaboration with the Test Engineer.
Write and update test reports, qualification reports and associated technical documentation.
Support the product qualification process, ensuring traceability between requirements, tests, and results.
Follow laboratory safety rules, test protocols and quality procedures.
Participate in technical meetings and reviews with the propulsion and test teams.
Learning Objectives
During the internship, the intern will gain experience in:
- Propulsion system testing and qualification methodologies
- Lifetime testing and reliability validation
- Engineering documentation and reporting standards
- Working within a structured test and quality framework
- Collaboration with experienced Test Engineers and multidisciplinary teams
Required skills
- Currently pursuing a degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of engineering testing principles.
- Ability to write clear, structured technical reports.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Excel and Word.
- Proficiency in Python is a plus.
Soft Skills
- Analytical and methodical mindset.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
