Les missions du poste

Role Purpose

Corning is an American group with more than 175 years of history and is recognized as a leader in glass technology innovation.

Active in most of the group's activities for over 50 years, the Corning European Technology Center, based in FontainebleauAvon (77), provides expertise in research, development, and engineering.

In this context, we are seeking an OptoMechanical R&D Engineer (M/F/D). You will play a key role in the design, integration, and finetuning of ultrahighprecision optomechanical subassemblies, at the heart of the development of innovative optical connectivity solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will include:

OptoMechanical Development

- Design and develop micromechanical assemblies enabling ultrahighprecision optical alignment.

- Define tolerances, alignment strategies, and assembly concepts compatible with micrometerlevel precision and highvolume manufacturing.

- Design components, tooling, and coupling solutions for fibertowaveguide / fibertomicrooptics interfaces.

Integration & FineTuning

- Set up optical test benches and characterize performance (losses, stability, robustness).

- Identify alignment and repeatability limits and propose productoriented design improvements.

CrossFunctional Interface

- Collaborate with process, materials, packaging, and industrialization teams, as well as external partners.

Documentation & Robustness

- Prepare technical documentation and ensure project reporting (progress, risks, critical issues).

Experiences/Education - Required

We are seeking a micromechanics or precision mechanical engineer. A first confirmed professional experience is preferred, while remaining open to more experienced profiles.

Required Skills

- Experience or strong interest in working on mechanical systems with extremely tight tolerances (from submicron to a few microns).

- Knowledge of constraints related to microfabrication.

- Solid understanding of alignment, mechanical stability, and integration / packaging constraints.

- Proficiency in a CAD tool (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or equivalent).

Preferred Skills

- Understanding of optical alignment principles and error budgets.

- Experience in integrated photonics or fiberoptic assemblies.

- Experience in optical connectivity or microoptoelectronic packaging.

Personal Qualities

- You are rigorous, wellstructured, and comfortable with fine tolerance analysis and complex physical phenomena.

- You enjoy moving from design to handson integration, accept technical iterations, and are able to defend your design choices with solid, wellreasoned arguments.
