About the Company

Established in 2017, Infinite Orbits is a NewSpace company, based in Toulouse, pushing the boundaries of in-orbit services with cutting-edge spacecraft driven by its own Rendez-Vous solution, an advanced Autonomous Vision-Based Navigation Solution. IO has two generations of missions

"Orbit Guard" provides Inspection and Space Situational Awareness services in GEO. Our first, OG-1 was launched on 1 May 2023, the second is launching in 2025 and the third third launching in 2026.

"Endurance" is a docking service capable of extending the life of GEO telecom satellites, by taking over AOCS takeover for 5 years.


We are seeking a motivated Optics Intern to join our dynamic and international team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in optics and imaging systems while contributing to innovative projects that are shaping the future of in-orbit services.

Job Description

- Assist in the design, development, and testing of spaceborne optical systems for rendezvous and docking subsystems.
- Contribute to camera calibration, optical alignment, and performance analysis tasks.
- Support the evaluation of optical components for use in harsh space environments, including radiation tolerance and thermal stability.
- Participate in research related to enhancing optical systems for relative navigation and target detection.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate optics with other subsystems such as guidance, navigation, and control (GNC).
- Perform electro-optical characterization of CMOS image sensor.

Le profil recherché


Requirements

- Currently pursuing a degree in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong interest in the space industry and NewSpace initiatives.
- Basic knowledge of optical design tools (e.g., Zemax, Code V) and familiarity with camera systems or image sensors.
- Excellent abstraction & problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English.
- Students doing Masters currently based in France or EU citizens residing anywhere and available for a minimum of 5 to 6 months internship.
- PhD students residing anywhere and available for a minimum of 3 months.
