THE ROLE
Reporting to the Senior Manager Ports & Terminals and working closely with them, you are responsible for defining, deploying, and driving the Ports & Terminals Procurement strategy across your regional scope, in alignment with the Group strategy.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ?
1. Define and deploy the Ports & Terminals Procurement strategy
- Define and implement the Ports & Terminals Procurement strategy and objectives within your scope, in line with Group guidelines.
- Build and monitor your scope's budget, managing an annual spend of approximately €4.3 billion (2023 reference).
- Lead and support your team of buyers, developing their skills and autonomy.
2. Lead negotiations and support Regional Offices (RO)
- Monitor, challenge, and support negotiations conducted by all RO buyers on Terminal contracts (stevedoring & associated services).
- At the request of Senior Management or ROs, intervene directly or provide support in complex negotiations with strategic suppliers.
- Assess risks and opportunities related to regional markets and suppliers, and propose appropriate sourcing/re-sourcing scenarios.
3. Strategic interface with Senior Management and business stakeholders
- Act as the key point of contact between Senior Management and ROs for Ports & Terminals Procurement topics, ensuring clear communication of priorities, risks, and decisions.
- Develop strong relationships with shipping lines, logistics, intermodal, and all assets (ports, terminals, inland services) to identify needs, anticipate challenges, and optimize OPEX.
- Act as an ambassador for Procurement best practices within the Group, promoting the added value of the Procurement function
4. Performance monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement
- Closely monitor procurement activity and performance within your scope to ensure proper execution of the strategy and achievement of targets (savings, service quality, lead times, ESG, etc.).
- Provide regular reporting on activity and performance to Group Procurement and Senior Management (KPIs, dashboards, action plans).
- Contribute to the rationalization and securing of Procurement processes (standardization, compliance, digitalization, performance tools).
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR ?
- Experience in procurement and/or operations, ideally in Ports & Terminals, transportation, or logistics environments.
- Knowledge of the maritime industry.
- Strong ability to analyze procurement data (volumes, costs, operational KPIs) and develop optimization plans for high levels of spend.
- Knowledge of service contract frameworks (SLAs, penalties, performance clauses, compliance).
- Fluent English (written and spoken).
- Proven leadership with the ability to engage teams and manage a network of local and regional stakeholders.
- Persuasion and negotiation skills, including in multicultural and multi-stakeholder environments.
