The shipping industry is undergoing one of its most profound transformations - and you could be at the heart of it. As a Senior Technical Expert in Gas & New Technologies, you will serve as the focal point for some of the most forward-looking projects in maritime decarbonization: gas-fuelled vessels, wind propulsion, carbon capture, and beyond.
Based at our headquarters in La Défense (Paris area), you will join our New Construction Department within Marine Operations.
Your main responsibilities:
- Build and maintain expertise in gas transport (LNG, LPG), low-flashpoint fuel propulsion, and maritime energy transition projects (wind propulsion, carbon capture, renewable energy, etc.)
- Represent Bureau Veritas at conferences, seminars, and industry events in France and internationally
- Design and deliver training sessions for the new construction expert network to ensure knowledge transfer on innovative and emerging projects
- Take on a project coordinator role when required, supporting or deputising for the Project Leader
- Maintain the experience feedback (REX) database by fuel type and alternative propulsion technology
- Contribute to the internal sustainability community and participate in building and updating relevant training content
- Coordinate selected studies and development projects within your scope
Your strengths to succeed:
Education and experience:
Degree in engineering or an environment-related field.
At least 10 to 15 years of experience in the maritime sector, with a recognised background in a classification society.
Hands-on experience (construction and/or operations) across multiple vessel types: tankers, gas carriers, container ships, offshore units (FPSO, FLNG), or regasification units (FSRU). Experience both in the field and in team or site management.
Technical skills:
In-depth knowledge of regulations and technologies related to gas transport and alternative propulsion systems.
Ability to deliver pragmatic, operational solutions in technically complex environments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Personal qualities:
Rigorous, autonomous, and proactive. Recognised for your adaptability and ability to drive initiatives. Strong team spirit and capacity to animate an expert network across an international organisation.
Language skills:
Fluency in English is required. Willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis.
