About the Company
Established in 2017, Infinite Orbits is a NewSpace company, based in Toulouse, pushing the boundaries of in-orbit services with cutting-edge spacecraft driven by its own Rendez-Vous solution, an advanced Autonomous Vision-Based Navigation Solution. IO has two generations of missions
"Orbit Guard" provides Inspection and Space Situational Awareness services in GEO. Our first, OG-1 was launched on 1 May 2023, the second is launching in 2025 and the third third launching in 2026.
"Endurance" is a docking service capable of extending the life of GEO telecom satellites, by taking over AOCS takeover for 5 years.
We are looking for a Design Engineer to lead the detailed mechanical design of satellite structures and subsystems, while contributing to the overall spacecraft integration. You will work closely with the Mechanical Architect and Structural Analysis team to translate system requirements into robust, manufacturable, and testable hardware.
This is a high-ownership role spanning concept design, detailed CAD, interface definition, and support through assembly, integration, and test (AIT).
Job Description
- Lead detailed mechanical design of satellite subsystems and structural components, including primary and secondary structures.
- Work closely with the Mechanical Architect to develop and refine spacecraft-level mechanical concepts and architectures.
- Translate system and structural requirements into manufacturable CAD designs.
- Design and define mechanical interfaces across subsystems to ensure integration consistency at spacecraft level.
- Produce high-quality 3D CAD models and detailed drawings (GD&T, tolerances, material specifications).
- Collaborate closely with Structural Analysis Engineers to iterate on mass optimization and structural performance.
- Support design for manufacturing (DFM), assembly (DFA), and integration constraints.
- Work hands-on with AIT teams during integration, alignment, and mechanical validation.
- Participate in defining test setups and support hardware during vibration and structural testing.
- Drive design improvements based on test results and manufacturing feedback.
- Contribute to design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, FRR) with clear mechanical justification.
- Ensure configuration control and design documentation consistency across the spacecraft.
