ARTELIA, a leading European independent engineering group with consolidated revenue of €1.3 billion, is strengthening its Tax Department to address increasingly complex tax matters arising from sustained international growth, acquisitions, new country operations and the growing scale and number of projects.
Reporting to the Group Tax Director, the Tax Manager will provide international tax support to operational and finance teams across the region. The role will focus primarily on bids and contract negotiations, new country entries, cross-border operating structures, year-end tax matters, local compliance and tax audits.
The Tax Department's mission is to protect the Group's financial interests through three core priorities:
- Assess project tax costs for inclusion in financial proposals and draft the related tax provisions for bids and contract negotiations, balancing margin protection with commercial competitiveness.
- Protect the interests of Group entities during acquisitions, year-end closing processes, tax audits and disputes.
- Ensure the Group's tax compliance in France, internationally and in its cross-border activities.
Key Responsibilities
Bid and Project Support
- Estimate and validate the tax burden of bids and projects.
- Draft and review tax clauses in bids, commercial proposals and contracts.
- Contribute to the contractual and tax structuring of bids.
- Negotiate with clients' and partners' finance teams to explain and agree the applicable tax treatment.
- Assess the impact of tax law changes on project structures, consortia, subcontracting arrangements and project tax costs.
International Expansion and Operating Structures
- Contribute, alongside other business partners, to country-entry and investment structuring recommendations submitted to the Investment Committee.
- Advise on offshore and onshore operating models and corresponding invoicing flows.
- Define scopes of work and participate in the selection and management of external tax advisers in coordination with finance teams.
Tax Guidance and Capability Building
- Monitor regional tax law developments and communicate their impact on the Group's activities.
- Design or deliver targeted tax awareness and training sessions to operational, commercial and finance teams.
Tax Audits and Disputes
- Select and coordinate external advisers in consultation with operational, controlling and accounting teams.
- Contribute to audit and dispute strategy.
- Prepare or review submissions and responses to tax authorities.
Local Tax Compliance and Reporting
- Review tax returns and reporting obligations in coordination with the international accounting function and local finance teams.
- Assess tax risks arising from compliance and reporting obligations and help implement corrective action plans with financial control teams.
Le profil recherché
- Master's degree in corporate tax law
- Four to six years of relevant experience within the tax department of an international engineering, construction, industrial or equipment group, or in a tax and law firm.
- Knowledge of international tax principles, including tax treaties, permanent establishments, withholding taxes, VAT and overseas operating structures.
- Excellent written and spoken English & French
