WHO ARE WE?

ORIL Industrie (1,000 employees), the 2nd largest chemical industrial site in France and a subsidiary of the SERVIER Group, committed to therapeutic progress for the benefit of patients, is a strategic site for pharmaceutical chemical production.

Thanks to its know-how and cutting-edge expertise, the site produces nearly 2,000 tons of active pharmaceutical ingredients each year, used notably in medicines prescribed for oncology, neurology, cardiology, diabetes, and venous insufficiency.

The Bolbec site is unique in combining both industrial production activities and an R&D center dedicated to the development of chemical syntheses for new medicines.

About the role

As a Chemical Scientist within the Chemical Development entity of our Industrial Research Center (CHAD), based at the Oril Industrie site in Bolbec, you will contribute to the expansion of our pharmaceutical development portfolio. This center is the leading industrial R&D hub in Normandy, bringing together around 200 employees, including 60 experts dedicated to chemical development.

In a context of growing drug candidate pipelines across oncology, cardiovascular, immuno-inflammatory diseases and diabetes, you will play a key role in the development of new molecules, from laboratory studies to scale-up activities.

Your main responsibilities :

- Design, conduct, and interpret experimental study programs to enable the production of initial material batches.
- Perform in-depth literature reviews to support project strategy and decision-making.
- Propose innovative and efficient synthetic strategies for new chemical entities.
- Develop and optimize operating procedures for scale-up at kilolab level and ensure smooth transfer to pilot scale.
- Act as the owner of your studies, ensuring the reliability of results, adherence to timelines, and clear scientific reporting.

What we're looking for :

- Background: PhD in Organic Chemistry, complemented by post-doctoral experience. An international post-doc would be considered a strong advantage.
- Hard Skills :
- Strong expertise in organic synthesis, including the design and execution of multi-step synthetic routes.
- Ability to develop and optimize laboratory-scale processes.
- Solid understanding of reaction mechanisms and the ability to rationalize experimental results.
- Awareness of safety, quality and regulatory considerations in a chemical development environment.
- Language skills : Fluent in English ; proficiency in French would be a plus.
- Soft skills:
- Dynamic, collaborative, and team-oriented mindset.
- Strong organizational skills, rigor, and proactivity.
- Ability to propose ideas and contribute constructively to team discussions.
- Genuine interest in contributing to scientific projects.
