Established in 2017, Infinite Orbits is a NewSpace company, based in Toulouse, pushing the boundaries of in-orbit services with cutting-edge spacecraft driven by its own Rendez-Vous solution, an advanced Autonomous Vision-Based Navigation Solution. IO has two generations of missions

"Orbit Guard" provides Inspection and Space Situational Awareness services in GEO. Our first, OG-1 was launched on 1 May 2023, the second is launching in 2025 and the third third launching in 2026.

"Endurance" is a docking service capable of extending the life of GEO telecom satellites, by taking over AOCS takeover for 5 years.

The Mission Systems Engineer is responsible for the definition and end-to-end consistency of the mission, from customer requirements to in-orbit operations, for the Orbit Guard and Endurance programs. He or she translates mission objectives into system requirements, defines the concept of operations and the approach strategy for rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO), and ensures traceability to the platform, payload, and ground segment.

Job Description
Mission Analysis & Concept of Operations

• Define and develop the concept of operations (ConOps) for missions (Inspection, life extension).
• Perform mission analyses: approach and rendezvous strategy, budgets, system simulation.
• Define nominal and degraded operational scenarios, including fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR) strategies at the mission level.
• Elaborate the end-to-end mission timeline, from launch to end of life.
• Assess mission risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  

Mission Requirements & System Performance

• Translate customer and programmatic needs into mission requirements and high-level system specifications.
• Flow down mission requirements to the platform, payload, and ground segment, and ensure traceability in the requirements baseline.
• Define and monitor mission performance budgets (delta-V, autonomy, availability, navigation accuracy).
• Participate in design trade-offs impacting mission performance.

Operations Support, Verification & Interfaces

• Interface with GNC and flight dynamics teams on the approach strategy and safety constraints.
• Coordinate with the ground segment and operations teams on the preparation and validation of mission procedures.
• Contribute to verification and validation (V&V) planning at the mission level and to associated reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, ORR).
• Serve as the technical focal point for the customer on mission aspects.
• Capitalize on lessons learned from previous missions for future developments.
  

Requirements

• Engineering degree (Master's degree) in aerospace, systems engineering, or equivalent discipline; PhD appreciated.
• At least 5 years of experience in mission engineering, mission analysis, or space systems engineering.
• Solid knowledge of orbital mechanics, rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO), and flight dynamics.
• Experience in defining concepts of operations and mission scenarios.
• Proficiency in mission analysis and orbital simulation tools (STK, GMAT, or equivalent).
• Experience in requirements engineering and system traceability.
• Ability to interact directly with customers and partners.
• Excellent technical communication skills, both oral and written, in professional English.
• Nationality: French nationality is mandatory due to project requirements.

Desirable Skills

• Experience in in-orbit servicing or rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO).
• Knowledge of geostationary orbit (GEO) operations.
• Experience in a NewSpace environment or agile development.
